Soccer Team Rebounds with 1-0 Win over Del-State

DOVER, DE - The South Carolina State soccer team set a record for the most wins in a season Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Delaware State in a Great West Conference (GWC) match at Alumni Stadium. Coach Glad Bugariu's team, which rebounded from a 2-1 setback to GWC foe New Jersey Institute of Technology on Friday, improved to 7-5 on the season and 1-1 in the league.
The seven wins are the most in a single-season for the SC State soccer program. Freshman Dani Benton scored the winning goal at the 23:40 mark of the first half for the Lady Bulldogs off an assist from Stephanie Searle, another freshman. Bugariu, still smarting from Friday's loss to NJIT, was happy to see his team get back on track after having its four-game win streak snapped.
"We won and that is what matters," Bugariu said. "We will be home for an extended period (a four-game home stand) and feel good about being back in Orangeburg." The four-game home stand begins Oct. 10 against NJIT and concludes Oct. 25 against Delaware State. "We must now prepare for NJIT," noted Bugariu "and try to avenge the loss on Friday."
