ORANGEBURG, SC - South Carolina State is headed to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs for a second consecutive season, and for a second straight year, will travel to Boone, NC to face Appalachian State, the FCS champion in 2006 and 2007. In last year's contest at Kidd Brewer Stadium, the Mountaineers won 37-21.

This year's match-up between the No. 7 Bulldogs and No. 6 Mountaineers will kickoff at 12 noon ET Saturday (Nov. 28) and will be televised live by ESPNU and ESPNUHD.

SC State, the automatic qualifier for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, will take a 10-1 record into the contest, while Appalachian State, the automatic qualifier for the Southern Conference, is 9-2.

The Bulldogs are making their fourth overall appearance in the FCS playoffs. In addition to last season, SC State was a participant in 1981 and in 1982. During the 1982 playoffs, SC State beat Furman 17-0 in the first round before losing 38-3 to Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs are 2-3 overall in the playoffs.
